STRATFORD JERSEY BREEDERS.

STRATFORD ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Stratford branch of the X.Z. Jersey Breeders’ Association was held in the secretary’s office on Tuesday. Present:—Messrs J. T. Belcher, J. D.* Healy, D. Watkin, E. J. Kirkwood, W. Say well, W. V. Harkness, J. Shorter, W. Vickers, and the secretary. The Chairman reported that th* meeting had been called for tho purpose of electing two delegates to the N.Z. Council, and to formulate remits. It was decided that Messrs A. H. Halcombe, E. J. Kirkwood and D. Watkin be nominated for the two positions vacant on the Council. The secretary was ' instructed to write to the Hawera and New Plymouth branches informing them who had been nominated, and asking for their support. The following remits to the meeting wore decided on:—That it be a recommendation to the Council that they increase the judges’ list by at least twenty names. That the Council urge upon the Board of Agriculture to bring under the notice of tho Government the desirability of placing tho Jersey breed on the same footing as tho other breeds at the experimental farms. The Council is to be written to asking them to put off the time of commencing the annual meeting to 1.30 p.m., instead of 11 a.m., so that northern members can attend the meeting in two days. The remits were left to Messrs D. Watkin, E. J. Kirkwood, and W. V. Harkness. It was resolved to procure volumes S, 9, 10, 11, of the Herd Books. A vote of thanks was accorded to the retiring secretary, Mr W. B. Fearon.
