Scene in Parliament.
FIGHT FOR A BLANKET. MEMBERS GOME TO BLOWS. By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] (Received 9.15 a.m.) Melbourne, May 14. An attempt to introduce a motion for adjournment to discuss the tariff led to a scene in the Federal House. Anticipating an all-night sitting, blankets were distributed on the Ministerial side. One was captured for a sleeping Oppositionist, and there was a wild scrimmage for its recapture, lasting a considerable time. Two members came to blows, and were dragged apart. Others were dragged from recumbent positions on seats or knocked over in the struggle. Order was eventually restored, the Deputy-Speaker shouting that he trusted the honorable members would remember that they were in Parliament.
