HANDS UP AND YOUR MONEY!
[By Eleotkio Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] Sydney, May 5. This morning’s hold-up at Darlinghurst was the most sensational for years. It occurred at one o’clock. About twenty persons were in tbe house, celebrating the birthday of one of the family. Suddenly a tall masked man entered, and presented a revolver, demanding “hands up!” The party was staggered. The masked man then whistled, and three others appeared. The owner oi the house entered a protest but was silenced by the cursing men, who pushed revolvers in his face. The party was stood in a semi-circle,' while the intruders calmly went throughout their pockets and stole £6OO in money and jewellery. One guest attempted to escape by the back door, but a robber promptly fired bis revolver, bringing him to a standstill. /•
After clearing out the party, the men backed through the door, still threatening with revolvers, boarded motor cars, and decampted. Later, detectives arrested David Keenahan, aged 25, who was charged with assaulting and robbing one of the guests. He was remanded on hail of £I6OO. '
