A, WAITARA FATALITY. [Per Press Association.] Waitara, May -1. A youth named Ernest Dare Spencer, aged 19, was found dead in a pool of blood this morning. He went to work from the house on the farm on disc harrows, carrying a loaded gain, with which he was to shoot birds to feed his tame hawk. It is pr°,aimed that he got into trouble with the horses, and the gun went oft. r lho deceased’s head was much shattered.

A WHARF FATALITY. Greymouth, May 4. At about 10.20 p.m. on Saturday, Win. Tyrell, about thirty years of cook on the scow Echo, missed his footing when going aboard the vessel, which was moored at the wharf. • His companion heard a splash, and threw a line overboard, but no sign of the missing man could I)? found. Invercargill, May 4. When the Maitai, from Melbourne, was nearing Bluff at 7 o clock this morning, a girl passenger, Mary Josephine Young, died. It is understood that before leaving Melbourne die girl had spent three weeks in a hospital suffering from dysentery, and was in a very weak state when she embarked. SUDDEN DEATH AT A MEETING. Reef ton. May 4. Air G, 13. Shepherd, member of the Education' Board, and chairman of the School Committee for many years, died suddenly at the school committee meeting to-night, just before eight o’clock. * DEATH,FROM HEART DISEASE, Hastings, May 4. Mr A. L. Douglas, of Douglas Bros., owners of To Mahanga station, and well known in racing circles, died suddenly at hiy residence in Hastings this afternoon. Deceased had been suffering from heart trouble, which presumably was the cause of death. He was about 33- years of age, and leaves a widow, but no family.
