AMUSEMENTS.

BERNARD’S PICTURES. The programme presented last night at Bernard’s Theatre proved to he an all-star series. The feature A.B. drama, “The House of Discord,” 3000 ft. in length, takes pride of place for acting and mounting. “Love of Beauty” is a very line Lnbin dramagraph, introducing most pathetic life-like scenes. The supporting pictures, including the latest Topical Budget, are all good. The music supplied by “Gerald Van Heck’s” orchestra is a treat outside of the picture programme. Wednesday’s now change will introduce the last London sensation, “Scrooge,” adapted from Chas. Dickens’ famous work “A Xmas Carol,” with Seymour Hicks the English favorite in the title role. The picture is stated to be on a lavish scale. The Ideal steam heating plant installed by Messrs McMillan and Frederic is now in full swing. The heat is supplied by a furnace outside the northern wall of the theatre, and a double set of pipes runs round the hall, there being four radiators, two on each side. With the wintry weather prevailing the installation will no doubt bo welcomed by picture patrons.
