Harcourt (Colonial Secretary) .upon the Tasmanian situation,nnd suggested that an important document had been withheld. He asked whether Governor jEllison-Macartney had marked the official communication confidential. Mr Harcourt replied that the documents had not arrived, but he had no reason to suppose when he received them they would not place him in full possession of the facts. He had no information regarding Governor itlli-son-Macartney’s alleged action. H« had been in telegraphic communication with the Governor, but with nobody else.
