THE KOMETA DISASTER. STORY OF THE SURVIVORS. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press association.! London, May 3. The Limerick, from Adelaide, rescued and landed at Liverpool five saiilors from the Kometa. As the Lirajerick approached the Kometa, the sea was ablaze with benzine. These men were the last survivors, and they stood | frantically gesticulating on the burnSinof forecastle. They were all badly i “ scorched. It is reported that two explosions blew part of the engines, the mastdeck, and bridge into the air, with the captain and seventeen others. An Algiers cablegram on April 28tli ran as follows The Russian steamer Kometa, petrol-laden, blew up off Sidi Ferrush. Fifteen persons perished and fifteen were rescued. Five of the latter sustained burns, and are in a critical condition. The Kometa was a steel vessel of 2005 tons gross, built iu 1893. ARRIVAL OF THE SIBERIA. CAN THERE BE ANOTHER VESSEL IN DANCER. Manila, Majr 3. The Siberia lias arrived here. The distress signals have not been explained. It is feared that another vessel is involved. San Francisco, May 2. The Pacific Mail Company state that the Siberia was fully equipped and that the crew and passengers are safe. The reported attack by Chinese pirates is not accepted here. Mr George Egan, Governor of Batanes, in tho Philippines, is on board.
