THE CAMP AT TAKAPAU.
A PRCCBESS REPORT. [Per Press Association.] Takapau, April 30. The Takapau encampment has ro far'not been'favored with good weather. Infantry work until to-day has been practically at a standstill, though the mounted? have been doing the usual manoeuvres. The lines have been in a very sloppy condition, but dried considerably to-day. The health of the men has been excellent, a case of appendicitis being the most serious reported. The sufferer is Rifleman Lobb, of Westown, New Plymouth, belonging to B Company, 11th Regiment. He was removed to the Waipukurau hospital. Tho latest advice from there states that he is not seriously ill. Everything is now in readiness for the remainder of the infantry, who enter on Friday. Trooper Blackstoek, of the 2nd Mounted Rifles, Taranaki, was this evening kicked oh the head by a horse while shoeing it. He is suffering from a severe scalp wound, but his condition is uot critical.
