The Town Hall authorities tool: the hint thrown out about the unsightly blinds on the windows, and last night the general appearance of the interior showed a great improvement, roller blinds 1 replacing the unorthodox affairs of the past.

It is now announced that the date of Mr T. M. Wilford’s meeting in the Town Hall, Stratford, next week, will he altered to Thursday, instead of Friday, evening. The reason is said to be owing to a request from Hawera to deliver an address in that town, Friday being the only suitable date. v - ■

There was fine weather for the opening of the Tarata Dog Trial Club’s meeting on Thursday. The two classes decided resulted as follows; Head, bring back and hold: A. Corrigan’s Marvel, 32pts 1; R. Guthrie’s Turk, 27, 2; P. H. Tocker’s Chum, 26, 3; H. Lambert’s Dyce, 25, 4. R. McMulliau’s Fly received 24 points and the same owner’s Toby 23. Driving and yarding: P. H. Tocker’s Chum, 30, 1; A. Corrigan’s Marvel, 25, 2; H. Lott’s Speed, 21, 3; J. W. Grieves’ Colin, 20, 4. McMullian’s two dogs each scored 17. Interivewed, the judge (Mr T. A. Winks, Hawera), said he was distinctly pleased with the work done, which was on the whole fivrv good considering that the men were amateurs. The dogs showed a lot of careful training, but the men had a lot to learn yet, such as could only bo gained by experience in attending other trials and watching the methods of the men there. However, he was greatly struck with the big improvement made since the last to the trials five years ago. If they continued to Improve as they had been doing, the work would soon he of a very high standard.
