MOUNT LYELL MINE. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright [United Press Asbooiatton.j (Received 10.5 a.m.) . Melbourne, April 21. Mount Lyell returns show that 21,971 tons of ore were treated, of which 7900 were from North Mount .Lyell. The converters produced 516 tons of copper, 150,873 ounces of sjJver, and 714 ounces of gold.
THE U. 5.3. COMPANY'S PURCHASE. The Union Company has purchased the Norwegian barque Lilla, which recently arrived in a damaged condition. The Kaiapoi will tow the Lilla to Wellington to bo used as a coal hulk. FIREMEN'S FATAL QUARREL. Sydney. April 23. Two firemen, Martin Neary and John Sullivan, quarrelled aboard the steamer Fort Curtis. Difring the struggle both fell overboard. Neary struck the wharf, and is not expected to recover. Sullivan fell into the water, and was drowned.
