CAR v. AEROPLANE.
A CHALLENGE TO CUILLAUX. Rupert Jeffkins, the American-Aus-tralian racing motorist, is anxious to meet Guillanx, the great French aviator, who is now in Australia, in a match, aeroplane v. motor car. In America, matches of this kind attract big audiences, and are very exciting. Only a month ago, Barney Oldneld, in a big racing ca* - , was only just beaten by Beachy in. an aeroplane on one of the big horse racing tracks. The. big racing ear, handled by Oldfield, and the aeroplane roaring 20ft above his head, both striving for supremacy, aroused intense excitement. Jeffkius owns a. Mercedes, of 120 h.p., capable of high speeds; hence his 'eagerness for a match with the Frenchman. An aviator can easily traverse a racing track .30 feet from the ground. This Hawker demonstrated in his exhibitions at Randwick.
