STRATFORD SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the School Committee was held last night. Present :Messrs I'. Skoglund (chairman), G. Smart, E. W. Hancock, .1. McMillan, .1. \Y. Jones and E. Jackson. I HEAI )MASTER'S RE L'OKT.
I The Headmaster (Mr P. Tyrer) rejported:— On behalf of the school boys 1 har« to thank Mr Campbell .hickson for a present of two footballs—one for the primary school loam and one for the senior High School team. I wish also Ito thank Mr C. E. James, who has kindly given a football to the junior High School team. I have also to thank Mr Osmond for a'valuable gift of bulbs for the school gardens. Repairs to the grounds lying between the main and infant schools are urgently required. WORKS REQUIRED. The Visiting Committee (Messrs Smart and .Hancock) reported: We have visited the school and find the following work requires to be done: All the blinds in the Technical School require to be renewed. The surface water round the paths requires to be drained away. Some windows require new cords. A leak in the roof between the cooking and art room requires attention. The window broken by the blasting operations has been put in but has not been puttied. At the mam school there are several,leaks, one in the infant school and two in the newschool. The drain at the end of the 'asphalt yard is blocked and requires a man-hole put in before the yard is graded.- The contractor for blasting stone in the river has not put in the frame at the shed at the baths.
GENERAL. The secretary of the Education Board wrote that Miss Gernhocfer had been appointed' to assist in the rural classes at the school as from May Ist. The secretary of the North Taranaki School Committees Association wrote that a conference of delegates from committees in North Taranaki would he held at New Plymouth during the Winter Show. The secretary of the North Taranaki School Committees Association wrote asking that at the meeting of householders a resolution should'be carried urging the enlargement of the education district to include at least the whole '■ of the province of Taranaki.—Request granted.
