UPPER HUTT TRAGEDY.

INQUEST RESUMED. [Per Press Association."! Wellington, April 17. The inquest on the victims of the Upper Hutt explosion was resumed to-day. Among the witnesses who gave evidence was Herbert Pratt, a partner in the firm of Bengo and Pratt, whose share was destroyed. He stated that the firm stocked blasting powder, gelignite, sporting cartridges, flasks of black powder, ancl detonators. They never had in stock more than one case of gelignite. On the day of tho fire there was two lbs of blasting powder in store, but there was no gelignite that he knew about, and he did not think there could be any without his knowledge. The firm purchased the last case of gelignite on 6th February.
