Tetrazzini, the famous singer, averted a panic when a tire started in a picture theatre at Canton, Ohio, by singing for five minutes, thereby stopping a rush of maddened people. Tetrazzini saved probably scores of j lives. The curtains were ablaze when the singer started, and although there was every appearance that the house would be destroyed, the people were so astonished at Tetrazzini’s wonderful nerve, that they resumed their seats. T}ie attendants successfully extinguished the fire.
