RATA, THE MAORI KING. A MESSAGE TO THE KING. j [Pee Pbess Association.] Auckland, April 11. Rata, the Maori King, is a passenger by the Niagara leaving to-day, and is hound for London to place before the King the claims of the Natives in regard to their land under the Treaty of Waitangi, He is accompanied by Tupu Tainkakawa (“Prime Minister”) and Mr G. Paul (interpreter), and Miti Karaka. There has been a good deal of discussion about the trip among the Maoris, and opinions are divided as to the wisdom of the tour. These who left this morning assert that the objections come from a very small minority.
