PIONEERS’ MEMORIAL.

The Unveiling ceremony in connection with the above has been fixed for Raster Tuesday (April 14th). Tbe memorial is to stand at the corner of Fitzherbert and Stafford streets, which are the main arteries for through traffic north and south, and also inland. The pedestal yhich is to Ire unveiled on Easter Tuesday will bear the following inscription, the four sides being utilised: — 9n the front .side : ....- 1864-1914. In Honor of The Pioneers of Westland. “The Frontier Line.”
On the right panel: “Where the Vanguard Camps To-day. the Rear shall Rest To-morrow.” On the left panel; “Fortune’s Buffets and Rewards, Ta’en with Equal Thanks.” On the*rear side: “Daring and Conquering— Though,not sharing in the afterglow.”
