At the Auckland Trotting Club's Meeting, which opened on Wednesday, Mr J. Fitzgerald's Ariana, from the seven seconds mark, won the principal race of the day (the Alexandra Handicap, of 25050v5., two miles, in harness), and later in the day, ran second in the mile and a-half Stewards Trot Handicap. Mr Fitzgerald's consistent trotter is trained by Mr J. Butler, of Stratford. The weight-guessing competition for pen of two lire sheep at the Maketawa Factory sports yesterday, was won by J.
