March 30. Albert Bailey, a carrier, with his wife and child 2§ years of age, was crossing the line near North Bridgewater Station when the train crashed into the vehicle.

Bailey, who was decapitated, was terribly mangled. The wife was among the wreckage and with a mother's devotion clung to the child. She said: "I shielded it!"

She had several ribs broken, but the child was unhurt.

The horses were cut to pieces, and the vehicle carried 150 yards.
