If Mr Carnegie, who continually espouses Britain’s cause were a citizen of any other nation lie would be charged with treason, asserted Senator Chamberlain in the course of the Panama Canal tolls debate in the Senate. Mr Carnegie never hesitated to spend millions to inculcate a reciprocal feeling by the people of the United States for Britain. The Senator attacked Mr Carnegie during a heated argument with Senator Jones over the President’s attitude.
