The Rangitikei Racing Club’s an nual meeting opened in lino weather though it is windy. The course is ii good order, and there is a good at tendance. Results; —
Scott Memorial Handicap, 6 furlongs .—Ratana 1, Simple Sara 2, Te Hou Hou 3. All. started. Won easily by three lengths. Time, Imin lOsf.e. Maiden Hack Handicap, 7 furlongs. —His Eminence 1, Grey Guard 2, Hoopoe 3. Scratched: Rnapnhi, Bivouac. Won by half a length. Time, 33 l-ssec.
otaken Hack Hurdles, If miles Jackman 1, Huia 2, Florist 3. All started. Won by two lengths. Time, 3min 3 l-ssec.
A Sydney cablegram states that Sir Joseph Carruthers has published the opinion that the totalisator is not illegal, and means betting within the strict meaning of the Act. Mr Holman promises an immediate enquiry.
