Dominion Protests.
DEFENCE OF THE EMPIRE.
THE NAVAL POLICY. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] Times anp Sydney Sun Services. (Received 8 a.m.) London, March 3.
The Admiralty is wedded to the policy promulgated by Churchiil and is not affected by the Dominion protests, a udis still hopeful that Australia, Canada and .New Zealand will contribute battleships towards the formation of an Imperial fleet, to patrol the Empire. The Admiralty does not display any inclination to convene a naval conference because it is entirely absorbed by the Ulster crisis. Whilst not disposed to negotiate further with the Dominions, seeing the general election is not far ahead, it will possibly do so after the position of the parties is understood.
MR MASSEY'S UTTERANCES.
(Received 9.15 a.m.) Sydney, March 24
The Herald has published a letter, which says that the, outspoken utterance of Mr Massey must now convince Mr Churchill that his recent statement regarding the vital problem of [mperial naval defence in the Pacific has met with serious disaffection both in the Commonwealth and in New Zealand—the two Dominions which so far have attempted to make effective naval provision. Complete co-opera-tion in training in these, matters was desirable between New Zealand and the Commonwealth with a view to economy and effective action in wartime.
