Inman won the world’s championship,. going out at ■ 9000 whilst Reece was 7901, Inman made a break of 744, a championship record. (M. Inman was champion in 1912 and 1918. He beat Reece that year in the Billiard Control Club championship by 1373 points in 9000 up.

•f LONG DISTANCE IN OPEN SEA

Wellington, March 22

A novel swimming event, so far as Wellington is concerned, took place on Saturday afternoon, when thirteen started in an open sea race from Bona Bay wharf to Day’s Bay wharf, the distance being between three-quarters and one mile. A strong, cold southerly wind made the sea very choppy, hut ten competitors finished. V. G. Wise (6min 20sec. handicap) won in 22min 40sec. L. Butler (4rain 40sec) was second, and H. Jenkinson (4min 40sec) ' third. The -cratch man, IC. Newman, made the best time, viz., . 19miri* 4^eci! The swimmers wont with the wind, so th?.t the times were thus iConsiderably;better than-were expected in, the cold and broken water.
