London, March 18. Liverpool defeated Chelsea 3 to 0. AsWm Villa v. Oldham resulted in no score. Middlesborough defeated Sheffield Wednesday 5 to 2. Manchester City defeated Sunderland 3 to 1. Newcastle defeated Burnjey 3 to 1.

WIN FOR THE AUSTRALIANS

The cricket match Australia v. Nelson, resulted in a victory for the visitors by ten wickets. Yesterday Nelson knocked up 145 runs, and Australia had no wickets down for 23 runs. Continuing to-day, the Australians' first, inninsg ended for 170, Trumper (54) being the chief scorer. Nelson's second innings was a procession, the thirteen wickets falling for 35 runs, Broad being responsible for 19. In the second essay Waddy and McGregor knocked up the nine runs required to win in three hits. -For Nelson Allcott (five wickets for SO runs) was the best bowler, while for the visitors ' Armstrong took seven wickets for 14 runs, Collins three for 2, and Crawford two for 19.
SWIMMING.
HANDICAP CHAMPION CUP
The final distance (150yds) for the Handicap Champion Cup was swum on Wednesday, being won by E. H. Kiyell (scr), C M. Kivell (scr) being second, and C. C. Whittington (35sec) third. H. L. Spratt (3osec) also started. The time was 2min 37sec. E. IL Kivell wins the,Cup with 13 points, and C. M. Kivell gets the second-place medal with 12. Whittington secured 6 points and B. V. Kivell 5. BOWLING. The progressive pairs match on the local bowling green j r esterday was very successful. Ewan Jackson and and Harris won ciin.tdaß etaoin H. S. Harris tied as the best leads, and Harris won on his scores in the two first games. King and McDonald tied also, as the leading skips, and the count in the first two games gave King the verdict.
