An action for alleged slander, in which two. Waipawa doctors, Deck and Reed, figure as plaintiff and defendant respectively, is being heard at the Napier Supreme Court. Dr. Deck claims £5Ol damages for statements contained in letters written by Reed, in which the latter charged Deck witli a breach of professional etiquette in wittingly intruding on one of Reed’s patients. Yesterday Mr Enoch Wood Hancock, whoso name will be familiar to readers of tho Post in his official capacity as publisher, attained his typographical majority, i.e., it is twenty-one years since Mr Hancock joined tho staff. , From the stage of “the Devil” to that of publisher and a chair at the linotype is a migration that does not occur with many. That “Eenee” will “assemble” on similar “lines” for many years to come is the sincere wish of all his comrades on the staff.
