The Anti-cigarette League of Chicago has established a clinic for the treatment of women smokers, the treatment consisting of spraying the throat with nitrate of silver. The first patient was a chorus girl, who habitually smoked throughout the night instead of sleeping.

The Government has accepted a loan from Baring Brothers of ten millions sterling, for the purpose of establishing hydraulic works at Buenos Ayres.
