EFFECT OF A DRUG.

An inquest was held on George Edward Collins, who died on Tuesday afternoon being treated for a certain complaint with a drug known as salvarsen. In the course of his evidence, a medical man stated that he did not generally regard the remedy mentioned as specially risky. A verdict was returned that deceased died from pulmonary embolism.

AN OLD MAN’S DEATH. Auckland, March 7. William Richard Waters, an old age pensioner, was knocked down last night by a tram when crossing the Karangabape Road. Tie was removed to’ the Hospital suffering from injuries to his head, and died this morning.
