It is reported that sweeping victories have been gained over the "White Wolves."

Hauan aeroplanes were employed to locate the bands, which attacked them and then disappeared. It is claimed that 4000 were killed.

White Wolf is the reputed oxleader of the Kuoming party, vfhich the central authority suppressed. The new organisation absorbed the two former secret societies known as the Iron and Blood Undaunted, and enjoys the active sympathy of a large section of the official merchant classes from whom it gets intelligence of the movements of the Government troops.

It practically holds the provinces of Hunan, Atdiwei and Hupeh. So successful were the troops at the commencement that the people regard them as invincible.

Tutuh S/.echaun. who was dismissed for secret complicity, had his battalions in constant communication with the Brigands. While pretending to pursue them, he would arrive at a place, then fire a few shots in the aii-, and pick up the 'nnniy, a lot of which others had specially left for the purpose, subsequently reporting that he had met the robbers and indicted a crushing defeat.
