WANGANUI RACES. [Per Press Association.] Wanganui, February 26. The Wanganui Jockey Club's autumn meeting opened to-day in fine weather, though a very cold wind was blowing. The attendance was largo. The track was in good order. Results: Stewards' Handicap, 8J furlongs.— Expect 1, Guiding Way 2, Merry Frank 3. Scratched: Emperador, Allegation, i Won by half a length, with a neck between second and third. Time, lmiu 50 2-ssec. Petre Hack, of six furlongs.—Princess Moutoa 1, Aratiatia 2, Historiette 3. Scratched: White Plume. Won by a length, a length between second and third. Time, lrain losec. AVestmere Hurdles, of two miles.— The Rover 1, Timothy 2, Bereola 3. Scratched: Cornelian. Timothy made the early running. Whimper came to grief at the first hurdle. Kurnalpi fell half a mile from home. The Kover led to the bend, winning by ten lengths, six lengths between second and third. Time, 3miu 59 2-ssoc. Hack Hurdles.—Aruake 1, St. Gate 2, Huffy 3. Scratched: Composed. Won easily by a length, two lengths between second and third. Time, 3mm 19sec.
