THE TARANAKI SHOW.
OPENED TO-DAY. The racecourse, on which the show is to be held, is a hive of industry, and the committee is to be congratulated upon the splendid arrangements which have been made for the comfort of the exhibitors and the public. The large ring m which the competitions are held immediately in front of the grandstand, from which an excellent view can be obtained. Besides the numerous side-shows, there are the usual weight-guessing competition, for which splendid prizes are offered, and as for those who can use the long-handled f.ork, a sheaftossing competition has been provided. The prize money for this event will be by way of sweepstakes. At this year’s show there will bo amusement provided for everybody, so that'with the special trains'and excursion fares the attendance on l J eople’s Day should be the largest ever seen on a showground in the district.
