Koenig, the leader of the Austrian Antarctic expedition, denies rivalry with Shacketon. He intends landing at Prince Luithpold Land and undertaking three sledge journeys. It is possible that his base of operations will only he a day’s sledge journey from Shacketon’s. The parties may meet somewhere in the vicinity of the thirteenth meridian en route to the Pole.
