ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.

AN INEXPLICABLE ACCIDENT. [Per Press Association.] Wellington, February 21. At the inquest on Frank Hector Christie, Wanganui, who died as a result of injuries received by being knocked down by a tram car, the Coroner said the evidence showed that deceased was a man of about 69 years of age, was temperate and in possession of sight and hearing. It seemed extraordinary that such an accident should have happened, because the night was fairly calm and the street well lit. Ho could not say that any blame was attached to the motorman. A verdict was returned that deceased died from injuries caused by being knocked down by a tram car.
