Arrangements have been completed between the Amalgamated Wireless Co. of Australasia Limited and the Postmaster-General for reducing the rates for wireless messages exchanged between the Australian coast stations and ships at , sea. This applies to ships registered in Australia and New Zealand and trading, oxcluHive.ly between Australian ports, and operates from May Ist. Th present rate 1 -is' tenpence per word of which fourponce went to the ship and sixpence to the ooa’st station, wh: st the new rate is fivgpoime of which ■ the ship will take twopence and the const station threepence, plus a level land lino charge of a penny per won.
