A STRATFORD PROPOSAL. GOOD SUPPORT PROMISED. For the past six or seven years the farmers along the Ohura Hoad have advocated the erection of cooperative freezing works in the Scarford district, and early this weeu Mi Joseph McCluggage was definitely approached by a number of farmers and asked to canvass farmers as to taking shares and to convene a meeting of those interested. Mr McCluggage undertook the duty and has written to several firms asking for data as to the probable size of the works and the cost. When this arrives, a meeting will he ■•riled and arrangements made to canvas the whole of the district. The time is opportune for such a suggestion, as next season Stratford should be in dose touch with the Ohura people by rail and Home boats will, no doubt, be berthing at New Plymouth.

It is confidently asserted that the district east of Stratford could keep a freezing works going iself.
