Mr W. H. Skinner, Commissioner of Crown Lands, Blenheim, has received notice of his transfer to Napier as from April 1.

Mr E. Averill, president of the f Dannevirke A. and P. Association, has been appointed to represent Hawko's Bay on the Board of Agriculture.— Press Association.

The Governor-General of the Com- ' monwealth of Australia, Sir Ronald Munro-Ferguson, sails by the Otway.— London Press Association message.

Mr E. D. Collison, a well known sheepfarmer, died last night from the effects of injuries sustained through falling from a horse on Saturday, says a Hastings Press Association telegram.

The death is announced of Mr William Jamieson, a respected Frankley Road resident. Mr Jamieson was a skilled pottery worker, and made several interesting specimens of pottory from the kaolin from the Smart Road clap depots a few years gao.

There passed away at his residence, Juliet Street, this morning, another of the Maori War veterans in the person of Mr Charles Coley, who had reached the ripe age of 78 years. De-

ceased came out in '54 with the Imperial troops, and since the end of hostilities has resided in Taranaki, mainly in New Plymouth and Stratford. His wife predeceased him twelve months ago. The funeral takes place on Sunday.

The Hon. W. A. Holman, Premier of New South Wales, spent a very busy day sight-seeing in Christchurch yesterday. In the afternoon, after a short pleasure jaunt upon the river, Mr and Mrs Holman attended the Victoria League Garden Party, and afterwards were entertained by Mr G. W. Russell, M.P., and left for Wellington by this evening's boat. Mrs Holman, also, this morning* visited the Hostel for girls at the Technical School.
