Viscount Murray, after declaring that all his Marconi transactions had been already, disclosed], admitted he, made an error of judgment in purchasing Americans on his I ow’ii account through the company he was not interested in. The Post Office contract’s purchase for the Liberal Party was also an error of judgment, though he regarded it as a .pure investment. His colleagues were not aware of his purchase and he did not inform Mr Illingworth (the Liberal whip) because owing to the scandal he preferred to bear the responsibility himself. He admitted that liis actipns were not wise, but he expressed regret. Lord Amphtill’s motion to set np a committee to inquire into Viscount Murray’s transactions was postponed at Lord Lansdowne’s suggestion.
