ACCUSED SENTENCED TO DEATH. [By Electric Telegeaph—Copyright] [.United Press Association.] (Received 10.45 a.m.) Hobart, February 17. Belbin has been sentenced to death for the murder of Ledwell at Deloraine in October last, with a recommendation to mercy on account of his youth. (A cable from Launceston on October 28th stated that Margaret Kathleen Ledwell (16J), of Chestnut Estate, near Deloraine, left home on the Sunday afternoon to join her patents, who were visiting a settler's place. The girl was waylaid and molested. ■ The murderer was frustrated in his intentions, and then shot the girl, blowing off portion of her head. The body was found in a depression a little off the road).
