TERRIFIC GALE AT SEA.
SENSATIONAL WRECKS. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright [United Press Association. I London, February 14. A terrific gale is raging in the Channel. The Lands End coastguards spied a ship's punt containing three men a mile off being rapidly driven shorewards before heavy seas. They summoned the rocket army brigade, which were four miles away. A tragic race ensued. Just as the brigade reached the top of the cliff the boat was caught by a huge wave and dashed on to rocks, being dashed to pieces. The crew disappeared in the mountainous seas. The three-masted cargo steamer, My Own, laden with cement, struck heavy seas. Its hatches were smashed and afTnntted water to the hold and it sank at Shoreham. The crew of eight were drowned. The captain clung to N the rigging, where he was seen in the morning, and was rescued by a lifeboat.
