GENERAL IAN HAMILTON.
METROPOLITAN REVIEW. [Br Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [Unitef. Prkrs Association. ) (Received 11.10 a.m.) Melbourne, February 16. Tbe review of the Metropolitan troops is not likely to create a favorable impression with Sir Tan Hamilton, who was kept waiting five minutes before the officers were aware he had arrived. There was an embarrassing delay in arranging the | troops' salute and the massed bands were so far away that they were hardly heard. The General expressed himself pleased with the work of j the men and the way they marched ! past, but said the ceremonial parade should give the reviewing officer a chance of seeing how the officers handled the men. They must not be taken by surprise; a general must be looked upon as an enemy, because he tried to pick holes in everything; so they should be ready for him.
