AN ADJOURNED INQUEST.
CATHERINE HEARN’S DEATH. DUE TO HEART FAILURE. [Per Press Association. 1 Auckland, February 13. The adjourned inquest touching the death of Catherine Hearn, who died soon after an altercation with a bailiff who was removing the furniture from her residence, concluded to-day. The Coroner, Mr Cutten, S.M., found that death was due to heart failure following on miscarriage. He said the evidence showed that deceased was in a very serious state of ill-hcalth and that she was roughly handled while the furniture was lining removed; hut the latter statement was contradicted by other witnesses. There was not the slightest doubt that deceased was much upset by what took place and this, in her extremely delicate health, caused a miscarriage which led to her death, but he was unable to find blame attachable to anyone. Such a finding would amount to a recommendation that criminal proceedings should ho taken and he did not think the evidence justified such a recommendation.
