AMUSEMENTS.

HIS MAJESTY’S PICTURES. To-night’s new series of pictures at Bernard’s promises to be a programme of rather unusual interest. The star film entitled “A Venomous Bite,” has several thrilling* incidents, and runs as follows:—Lola, the snake charmer and Pierrot, fall in love and marry. Manseni, an acrobat, persecuted the girl with his attentions, and a fight took place between he and Pierrot. A venomous snake was brought by Manseni, and stealing into Lola’s room, he substituted it for a snake whose fangs had been withdrawn. That night Lola was bitten by the venomous reptile. Recognising there was something wrong, Pierrot bore her to the wings, and death soon resulted. The crime was brought home to Manseni, and he was condemned to death. Escaping from prison, he changed clothes with a drunken sailor who jn*as arrested, whilst Mensem signs on as a deck hand on a mail steamer. Pierrot had meanwhile gone to America, taking the snakes with him. To his astonishment ho sees Manseni hilled to dive into a tank from a great height. Just as | he was about to dive, a huge suffice bites him, and he is sent hurling into the arena. Pierrot dies across the body of his rival. “The Melbourne Cup, of 1913” should prove a <big draw. “The Silver Cigarette Case,” a Yitagraph play, introduces the life of a beautiful opera singer. “The Unit lie of Waterloo” will be screened on February Jtb and fftb, and Madame Bernard lias made arrangements for the screening of the only official film of “Scott’s Dash to the South Pole,” which will be shown on Friday and Saturday, February 6th and 7th.
