HOME RULE FOR IRELAND. THE SYDNEY PROTESTANTS. [By Eleotbio Telegbaph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] (Received 9.30 a.m.) Sydney, January 27. At a big Protestant demonstration, resolutions were carried expressing loyalty to the Throne, and solemnly protesting against the establishment of Home Rule in Ireland, the meeting pledging itself to stand by their compatriots in Ulster and other parts of Ireland in the desperate defence now- forced upon them. A copy or the resolution, is to be forwarded to the King.
"FIRM AS A ROCK." London, January 26. ijr Redmond, speaking at Waterford, said threats of civil war could not intimidate Mr Asquith, who was firm as a rock on Home Rule. ULSTER'S VOLUNTEER RESERVES. It is proposed.to raise a volunteer reserve of fifty thousand men in Ulster in order to give the hundred thousand volunteers already raised greater mobility. A CUSTOMS SEIZURE. (Received 10.50 a.m.) London, January 26. The Customs at Londonderry seized a quantity of bandoliers and haversacks consigned to a former Unionist Parliamentary candidate.
