New South Wales, in their first innings, made 675 (Macartney 201, Mailey 66, Trumper 24, Barbour .not out 65.) Macartney's was a brilliant and chanceless innings. He hit 29 fours. Bowling analysis: Ryder took two wickets for 163 runs, Armstrong three for 127, Lugton two for 86, and Matthews two for 102. Victoria made 49 runs for three wickets (Carroll 12, Park not out 19).

TOURING NEW ZEALANDERS.

The majority of the New Zealand cricket team are passengers by the Moeraki. The Aucklanders and Reese depart by Wednesday's steamer. The tour was successful beyond anticipation, both as regarded play and finance.

THE PLUNKET SHIELD MATCH

The Plunket Shield match, Auckland v. Canterbury, was continued to-day. The weather was perfect when play was resumed. The wicket had dried up considerably, whilst the outfield was much faster than on the previous day. Canterbury continued their innings, and made 372. Auckland made a disappointing display, the innings closing for 171. Canterbury went on again, and had compiled 82 without the loss of a wicket when stumps were drawn. Play will be resumed on Mondav.

Marlborough and South Taranaki meet at Wanganui on Wednesday and Thursday of next week. South Taranaki team is as follows:—A. Ongley, Sullivan, Dimiop, Davis (Eltham), Blamires, Pratt, McCarthy, McLaren, Cave (Hawera), Penny (Okaiawa), Doherty (Manaia). Emergencies—Walker (Manaia), Slinger (Normanby).
