, 3, CYCLING. NEW RECORDS [Put Pr.'jss Association.] Tiuiaru, January 20. F. Shalders, of Enfield, ueai Oamaru, to-day established a now one and two mile motor-paced cycling recurds. One mile was covered in lmin 34sec, one second below the existing record. Two miles were covered in 3min 3 l-ssec (the previous record was 3min 15sec). In the two-mile ride. The Board of Control announced bhat the players concerned are evilently unaware of the fact that the Yew Zealand Council omitted to obtain its approval of the proposed tour vhen they accepted the invitation to risit New Zealand. Whilst very adverse to the encouragement of such Sours, the Board had arrived at the Conclusion that it would not at this stage be reasonable to request the dayers concerned to decline the invitation. The Board strongly resents L he action of the New Zealand Coun•il. It will, when that body replies 'idly to its communication, take steps L o ensure future recognition of its mthority. The Board declines to leal with Sims at all.
