The wool sales opened with particularly strong demand for good classes, while medium sorts were on a par with the closing rates last week. LONDON WOOL SALES. (Received 11.55 a.m.) London, January 19. The second series of wool sales has opened. Competition was keen and well sustained throughout. Prices, compared with December, were in sellers' favour. (Received 1.35 p.m.) London, January 19. The market was firm for all sorts owing to strong Yorkshire competition. THE MONEY MARKET. (Received 9.55 a.m.) London, January 19. The stock markets are very buoyant, especially for gilt-edged securities. Owing to the cheapness of money most of the Colonial Government stocks advanced 20s. Consols are at £7l 15s. The New South Wales loan is quoted at 1 per cent, premium, and the Victorian at a half per cent.
