REPORT.
At Waiwakaiho on Friday, 9th last., 1 had only a small entry, which sold as follows:—Colored Id months heifers £3 10s, hulls £4 Ids, store cows £3 Is to £4 14s, forward cows up to £d Bs, fat cows £5 19s to £6 ds, cows and calves £4 7s fid to £5 17s.
At Urenui on Monday, 12th inst., there was a fair yarding of cattle with several pens of sheep. Competition on the latter was keen, every pen being placed at the hammer. There was an improved inquiry for cattle, most of the yarding being cleared at the following prices:—Weaner steers £1 Ids 6d, £1 3s, 17s, mixed weaners £1 11s, yearling to 15 months heifers £2 os to £3 4s, rough 15 months steers £2 14s fid, small store cows £2 7s to £3 3s, store cows £4 9s and £4 10s, forward cows £5 17s, fat cows £6 14s and £G 16s, 2 year steers £4 Is 6d, 21 year steers £4 10s to £4 15s, bulls £3 12s Gd to £5 os, springing heifers £5 2s Gd to £6 10s, dairy cows £5 5s and £5 7s Gd, f.m. ewes and lambs 17s Gd, mixed 2-tooths (mostly wethers) 14s 3d, fat and forward ewes (4-tooth up) 14s 3d, lambs 8s 9d and 8s lid, weaner pigs 4s to 10s.
On Tuesday, 13th inst., for my first Hahotu sale in the New Year, there was a nice entry of good conditioned saleable cattle, for which I had strong competition throughout, practically everything yarded being cleared at the hammer. Weaner steers made £1 7s fid and £1 10s, weaner. heifers £1 Ba, other small lines, not so forward, did not reach vendors’ reserves. Yearling heifers £2 3s to £3 6s, colored £3 18s to £4, small or bad sorts £1 to £1 13s fid, yearling to 15 months steers £3 16s fid, £3 11s, £3 10s, £2 3s, 2 year steers £4 2s to £4 10s, hulls £5 7s fid to £7 ss, nice pen of forward 21 year bullocks £0 Gs fid, fat heifers £5 ss, £5 18s Gd, pair working bullocks £2O, aged cows or small stores £1 10s to £3 11s, good store cows £5 17s, £4 16s, £4 15s, £4 13s, £4 10s, £4 9s, £4 6s, £4, forward and fat cows fall according to size and condition) £7 10s, £7, £6 16s, £6 6s, £6 ss, £6 4s, £6 3s, £5 19s fid, £5 19s, £5 17s, £5 13s fid, £5 13s, £5 11s fid, £5 40s, £5 9s fid, £5 8s fid, £5 6s, £5 ss, £4 19s fid.
-Note.—Considering tfie keen competition and high prices ruling at all my cattle yards for good conditioned hulls and forward cows farmers holding any of these lines would be well advised to talce advantage of the present strong demand. LONDON WOOL SALES. Mr Newton King has received the following advice re London wool sales; —“Scoured merino, faulty and inferior,, market weak, and has declined 5 per cent.”
