ATHLETIC CARNIVAL.

At the Exhibition Athletic Carnival Trembath won the half mile professional championship in lmin -59 1-osec. The mile New Zealand cycling championship was won by G. Wallace. In Highland dancing, the seantreus championship was awarded to Bellamy (Victoria). The other competitors expressed much dissatisfaction with the award, and withdrew from the remaining events, which wove left to the Victorians, Bellamy and Center. The former won the Highland fling and the latter won the sailors' hornpipe. The Wanganui Union Boat Club challenged for the Somerville Challenge Shield, held by the Auckland Rowing Club, and it was proposed to row the event here on January 81st.
