tains 658 members, 395 being at work to-day. Practically all strikers remaining in port are now included.

NEW INDUSTRIAL AGREEMENT.

UP AGAINST THE FEDERATION. NO RELATIONS WITH ANY ASSOCIATION OF UNIONS. Christchurch, January 8. The latest development in connection with the Lyttelton watersiders is the announcement of the registration of an industrial agreement between the employers and arhitrationists. The agreement provides for the old conditions, with the following addition to the usual preference clause: ‘‘This clause shall operate only so long as the union shall not lie associated in any way with any other industrial or trade union or association of such unions or other workers;”

The agreement remains in force till June 30. 1910. All the shipping companies being parties to the clause' makes it obligatory on the union to have no relations with the Federation of Labor, Trades Council, or other waterside unions.

THE OLD DRIVERS’ UNION.

ALLEGED BREACHES OF AWARD BY EMPLOYERS. Wellington, January 8. Mr Pnrlano, secretary of the old Drivers’ Union, told a Post reporter to-day that complaints had been made which indicate that some employers since the formation of the new union have not been careful to observe the award. He lias written to the Labor Department, and probably the charges of breaches of the award will come before the Court shortly. Members are not satisfied with the conditions under the new union. Many are still members of the •'old union, and others had made application for permission to join. Tt tias been arranged that a conference of various branches of the General Laborers’ Union will take place at Napier at Faster.
