MAN AND WIFE PUNCHED.

A FINE OF TEN POUNDS. [Per Press Association.] Marton, January 7. This morning, before Justices, John MeConvill, u young man, with 23 previous convictions, was charged with assaulting Mr and Mrs Paget, Jones pf Lite Ben Nevis Hotel, Turakina, on Tuesday night with clenched fists. He pleaded guilty to the first charge and not guilty to the second case—assault on Mrs Paget Jones —which was dismissed. On the charge in respect of Mr Jones, accused was fined £lO, iii default, 14 days' imprisonment. Fourteen days were allowed in which to pay the line.
