Christchurch. December 31

A case arising out of the shooting of Ralph Sparrow recently was heard to-day before the Juvenile Court. Two brothers, James wore charged with stealing a revolver and with having firearms in their possession. One boy was charged with stealing a bicycle chain. Both were committed to Burnham Industrial School.

IMMIGRANT’S FOOLISHNESS.

Auckland, December 31

Samuel Laurence Freeman, a young immigrant, was handed over to the police at Mercer on a charge of attempted suicide. He was found in a bedroom yesterday with an empty chloral bottle beside him. He had taken 80 grains, 30 grains being a fata! dose. An emetic was administered, and on Freeman recovering consciousness lie was arrested.
