Dining the temporary"failure of the water supply system, a lire broke out here and destroyed a block of louses and stores. The loss is estimated at half a million dollars. There were many thrilling escapes. The conflagration was stopped only after the extensive use of dynamite to* d stroy houses in the fire's path.. '1 lie Canadian Pacific engineshops are closed down owing to the lack of water, and. seven thousand operators are idle.
